Artist Bio

Biography
I paint in a style of Abstract Expressionism, which I call “Magical Abstraction,” using the oil medium from an acrylic ground and using a force of emotion that gets resolved as images appear. My main point is communicating the deeper, dreaming-self as part of the whirlwind of a painting experience that swells and shrinks on canvas. Earth colors, heaven colors, are like feedback loops, the colors that give me my ideas in painting. The colors have to feel lucid otherwise tensions will arise and fall.

I was drawing in my twenties and thirties. I had a natural connection to pulling together my own world with illustrations, allowing me to explore my creativity if I was dissatisfied with the drawings not being sophisticated enough. Later, the chi seemed to come into my hands, as if heaven was releasing paint into chi and into myself, like a genuine soul-making experience. The strongest pull for me, even stronger than younger years, is the paintings of my 60’s, which catalyze a deeper awakening more visible in form.

What I am unconscious of, I act out in painting—painting the deeper, dreaming-self, and experiencing the eternal presence of the creative act.
